Advantages over conventional waterproofs & Soft Shell

The difference between Páramo Directional waterproofs and the new Soft Shell technologies lies in Páramo’s superior level of waterproof protection.

Both Soft Shell and conventional (Hard Shell) waterproof breathable fabrics can only cope with 20% of the sweat you produce when working hard. For real comfort you need Páramo’s Directionality to pump away the other 80%.

 

1. Soft, but very strong fabrics Páramo Directional Waterproofs are much softer than coated or membrane based garments, and yet they are just as strong!   2. Warmth Being warm as well as dry means you can leave behind some of your insulation layers. Adjustable ventilation provides comfort in warm as well as cool conditions.   3. Quiet fabrics The rustle and crunch of coated or membrane fabrics is a thing of the past with Páramo. Páramo Directional Waterproofs are made using tough and flexible fabrics.   4. Keeps on working! You could fill a Directional Waterproof garment with pins, take them out, wear the garment in the rain and still stay dry! Puncture of the outer or inner fabric will not lead to leakage.

5. Renewability The performance of Páramo Directional Waterproofs can be indefinitely renewed by caring for them with Nikwax products. Conventional membranes on the other hand, can eventually fracture and crack and then cannot be repaired.   6. Keeping you dry in high humidity conditions Both conventional waterproofs and Soft Shell fail in conditions of high humidity. Páramo continues to pump water away from you whatever the humidity.   7. Rapid recovery Imagine you have worked hard and produced a lot of sweat. Wearing a traditional system you will experience internal (and possibly external) wet-out of the shell garment and probably partial saturation of any base and/or insulating layers. Then you stop to rest... you become cold and uncomfortable as your clothing system and body heat struggle to get rid of the cooling water fast enough.

Páramo’s ability to recover rapidlymeans that it doesn’t stop pumping the liquid out, even when static. The combination of our fabric structures and water-repellency means it carries on working, even with the body cooling. Nikwax Analogy Insulator fabric – how does it work?

It warms the body quickly by very efficient retention of body heat. It also deflects the rain while allowing excellent moisture vapour transfer. The moisture-repellent synthetic fill gives down-like feel and performance with the added benefit of continuing to work well even when wet. It packs small to give a high warmth-to-weight ratio. Designed for overlayering of other Nikwax® fabrics, it cuts windchill and provides excellent block insulation. The Insulator’s breathable silky lining allows moisture to continue to escape and slips easily over other layers. Base Layers - Paramo Reversible Shirts                                                                 Paramo's Reversible Shirts are constructed from Parameta S fabric. To increase your comfort in the outdoors the fabric asymmetrically wicks; attracting water to one face and trapping still, dry air in the other. This maintains your optimum body temperature, especially when used in conjunction with a Páramo Directional Waterproof. Tough, wind resistant, reversible and rapid drying – two shirts for the weight and price of one!
	Mountain Pull-On         £55	The Mountain Pull-on offers exceptional comfort and function, having been designed to work "systemically" with the jackets that are worn with them.  Combined with your Paramo jacket, the two garments become a powerful unit, which can be quickly adjusted to meet the rigours of terrain and weather.

Base Layers - Cambia Worn next to the skin, the Cambia range is the ideal choice for anyone venturing outdoors. Made from Reversible Parameta T fabric, Cambia upper body garments provide a choice of two fabric faces for comfort fine tuning. The smooth fabric face offers maximum evaporation and cooling through the spread of perspiration whereas the honeycomb face provides dry comfort in cooler conditions. Both fabric faces do a fantastic job at reducing the pooling of perspiration to eliminate cold spots after exercise – keeping you drier and more comfortable when working hard outdoors.
